Wow! What a winter so far. Everyone out there should be suffering from a bout of cabin fever.
Hopefully spring is not too far off and we can get outside to do something other than shoveling snow.
If you need to blow off a little steam why not check out some of the events in this newsletter and join with your fellow Moose members to get rid of the wintertime blues and think spring.
We have recently upgraded our liquor license from a club license to a club catering license. What this means is we will be able to hold events such as wedding receptions, anniversary parties and other family functions that you may desire. You must be a member in order to do any of these functions here and there are some stipulations that will be addressed on a case by case basis. If you are interested in booking anything please contact me at 570-275-2041.
This license will also enable us to have some functions open to the public. We will be meticulous in considering what functions we hold as the reason for doing this is to entice new members to join the lodge, grow our membership and be the best Moose Lodge that we can be.
We received approval at our special meeting on February 10, 2014 and from Moose International to sell our vacant property on Market and Wall Streets. We are currently waiting for the purchaser to submit the contract and hopefully will be moving forward with this process in the near future.
The current board of officers will be recommending that we use some of these funds to update our current lodge home. Before any of this money is spent we will need approval from our membership at special meetings which will be advertised in future newsletters and approval from Moose International.
Hopefully a new day is dawning for us here in the Danville Moose and the above mentioned items will help us grow and prosper in the coming years.
On a sad note, the last few years I have been very optimistic about the upcoming baseball seasons. Well this year I will be pessimistic about the elderly Phillies team that will be on the field. I still wish the best for them but it could be a long year unless they get a truckload of Geritol and it makes them perform as they did in their younger days. Go Phillies!
