Another year has blown by us and like a breath of fresh air a new one is upon us. The beginning of every year should be filled with optimism that it will be better than the last and that is my hope for this Moose Family Center.
One of our objectives as a Moose Lodge is to increase our membership we fell a little short last year, however we are close enough that we should be able to do it his year. We have formed a good member retention program that encourages members who have not paid their dues to do so.
Another aspect of increasing our membership is for our current members to sponsor new members into the lodge. As you will read in the membership article there is no better time to do this than now.
The honor that has been bestowed on our own Joe Koons, who is currently serving as Supreme Governor may never pass our way again. One of the greatest gifts we could give him is having his home lodge increase its membership this year.
Until the end of April we will be focusing on achieving this task by ramping up our retention efforts and new member production. It is my hope that you will join us in this effort and sign one or more for Joe. I know he will appreciate it.
As in the past I am once again asking for your input for new activities that we can provide for our members. Whether it is something that we have done in the past or a completely new event all suggestions will be considered.
One event that we used to do was a yearly clambake in the summer. This was recently brought to my attention by a member of our chapter that we should try it again. They are a lot of fun, however it takes a lot of volunteers and preparation to pull it off.
The board of officers will be discussing this and hopefully we can do it again successfully. If you are willing to help out please let me know because without the volunteer help of our members we will not be able to accomplish it.
I hope all of you have a safe, healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.
